Red Pocket Magazine 🏮 is an international literary magazine that publishes the writing ✍️ and art 🎨 of youth of the Asian diaspora ages 13+.
✨ What you’ll be doing
Create visually-striking illustrations for written pieces in the magazine with the goal of enhancing the storytelling in the magazine with a visual story
Illustrate covers for the magazine with the goal of creating a strong, striking first impression of the theme
Create illustrations for posts on social media (e.g. educational, posts showcasing previously published work) and media for initiatives and informational posts
Select and critique art pieces for magazine using critical thinking skills, providing constructive feedback to encourage submitters to continue creating art and help submitters’ improve their work
Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is an asset

To embolden the voices of the global Asian diasporic youth so they may reflect on, grapple with, and champion their ethnic, cultural, and racial heritages through expressive mediums and new perspectives.
Above all, Red Pocket is a safe space where you can live your truth, share your lived experiences, and unapologetically engage in discussions with people who have grown up similarly to you, yet vastly different at the same time. We grow as a team and we bond over rants about boba, tea about our lives, hot takes on random topics, and each others’ successes. ❤️

NOTE: We are looking for a diverse group of team members from the Asian diaspora, not only East Asian team members. We encourage South Asian, South East Asian, and Central Asian youth to apply!
