RELATION TO THEME - FAMILY
I chose to depict a highly stylized Japanese-style home in my pen drawing and the Itsukushima Shrine in my watercolor piece. Both are reminiscent of the country I never had the opportunity to visit, but it is nevertheless my home through my ancestry, as many of my family members reside there. While Iโve always had an affinity for pen and ink, I especially love sketching landscapes and rustic houses to ground them in lines on paper. Home to me is an anchor; through the medium I use, I hope to communicate a sense of nostalgia and comfort.
