RELATION TO THEME - FAMILY

I chose to depict a highly stylized Japanese-style home in my pen drawing and the Itsukushima Shrine in my watercolor piece. Both are reminiscent of the country I never had the opportunity to visit, but it is nevertheless my home through my ancestry, as many of my family members reside there. While Iโ€™ve always had an affinity for pen and ink, I especially love sketching landscapes and rustic houses to ground them in lines on paper. Home to me is an anchor; through the medium I use, I hope to communicate a sense of nostalgia and comfort.
